The home of our theatre group is the Beaverton Town Hall, located on the corner of Simcoe and Osborne Streets. Originally built in 1910, the theatre auditorium is on the second floor, where we can comfortably seat two hundred and fifty patrons. The lower floor of the theatre is wheelchair accessible by an elevator, but the balcony is not. A wheelchair accessible washroom is available on the first floor.

We are a registered, volunteer, non-profit theatre organization and have been producing plays and musicals for nearly twenty-five years. We try to put on three to four productions a year under our motto of, “Let us entertain you!”

We are always looking for more volunteers for on stage and off stage work. If you are interested in helping, please e-mail us with your interests and experience. To work in our group, an interest is necessary, but experience is not.

Tickets for all performances are $15.00 a person. Tickets are available in advance at Maxine’s Fashions on Simcoe Street in Beaverton. Otherwise, they will be sold at the door on show nights a half hour prior to curtain. All performances begin at 8pm, unless stated otherwise, and doors open at 7:30pm.

2010 Season

Welcome to our 2010 season of theatre, a year of laughter and song.  We will be putting on twenty-six performances this year.

Our season opens March 25, 26, 27 and April 1, 2, 3 with a new comedy by Beaverton’s own Paul Tremeer.  This show is centered in Beaverton and is called A Real Drag.  The play opens on a stormy night on the south side of Beaverton.  We are in the parlour of Mrs. Butt.  She runs a finishing school for young women and she is a lonely woman.  Two jewel thieves that have robbed the jewellery store in Uxbridge arrive at her door after running out of gas on Durham 23.  She invites them in thinking that she might get some action while the girls are all sleeping upstairs.  The police arrive, the girls are not all sleeping, two lingerie saleswomen come by.  Things get very complicated, but in the end everyone is happy and Mrs. Butt gets what she really wants.
The set for this play is huge.  It has two staircases, seven doors, secret passages, revolving bookcases and a second floor balcony.  Come out and have two hours of laughter to start off the spring season.

The first summer play on July 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10 is Who’s In Bed With the Butler?  This play by Michael Parker is about as zany as they come.  The play opens in the mansion of a dead millionaire.  In his will he has left his worldly belongings to his previous three mistresses.  They all show up at the mansion on the same day along with several other parties of interest.  Unknown to all, the butler has also been using these same women as mistresses.  The butler hires an actress to act as his wife so that his former mistresses leave him alone.  Further investigation shows that most of the fortune is missing and no one except the butler knows where it is.  You will never guess the ending in this one.  We are air-conditioned so come out for a cool evening of fun.

The second show for the summer on July 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, 31 is The Sunshine Boys by Neil Simon.  This show is about two old vaudeville players that get one last chance to do a show together on national television.  There are problems.  One problem is that they hate each other.  Another is that they are both semi-senile and can not remember their relatives, let alone their lines.  There are funny moments, tender moments and some great old vaudeville routines.  Come out and enjoy a night of Neil Simon’s light-hearted comedy.

The summer closes with our Children’s Theatre Camp.  This camp is available to all children ages 9 to 13.  The camp runs for two weeks from 8:30 each morning to 12:00 noon.  The cost is $100.00 per child.  The dates for the camp are August 9 to 13 and 16 to 20.  There are two show nights for the children on August 20 and 21.  Curtain time is always 8:00 pm.  There are no tickets for this show, but donations will be received if you would like to help support our work with the kids.

Curtain time is always 8:00 pm.  Tickets are $15.00 and available in advance by calling 426-7734 or at the door on show night until the theatre is full.  The theatre is located at the corner of Simcoe Street and Osborne Street.  Gift certificates are available year round by calling 426 7734 and are good for any show, but should be turned in for tickets prior to the night you want to attend the show.  For more information on any aspect of any of the shows or to join our happy group, please call 705 426 9586 or email at hazymeadows@xplornet.com.
